Trimcraft Social Network
A massive project that brings together an entire community of people in ways that revolutionised the craft market. An interactive website featuring social networking, forums, blogs, videos and much more. A must see project!
The problem
Trimcrafts previous consumer website, whilst rich in content was showing signs of age in it's appearance and useability. Updated and managing it's content required a time consuming and complex combination of uploading lots of files and editing code. A more elegent solution was required.
Shortly after joining Trimcraft as developer of their online straregy, their existing website was compromised due to poor and insecure code.
The brief
Trimcraft wanted to devise an online strategy that would firmly establish them as market leaders in the industry, improve brand awareness and develop a marketing engine that engages it's consumers.
The solution
After careful planning and consideration, I designed, and developed an extensive solution that would help establish Trimcraft as an online leader.
Using the latest languages and technologies, Trimcraft now boasts an online social network that receives hundreds of thousands of page views each month from visitors all around the world, a user base of approximetely 50,000 in their first year since launch (and growing!) and what's more - they now have a fully content managed, secure website that can be used to increase customer awareness.
Features
Search engine optimization
As an ongoing project alongside the running and maintenance of the Trimcraft consumer website, is the growth of traffic and consumer awareness via search engine optimization.
This was done in a number of innovative ways, but firstly let me highlight some of the results.
The Google Pagerank of the index page increased from PR3 to PR4 since launch (this is a system devised by Google to measure the importance of any given page on the Internet). This highlights that the site is officialy deemed of better importance to search engines than it was previously.
In addition to this, Trimcraft now boasts over 10,000 incoming links from other websites - showing that the site is now very highly regarded amongst other sites within the industry.
So how did I acheive this?
Using a number of methods, such as properly written and formed xHTML layouts, with the correct use of keywords, tags, titles and attributes that are friendly to search engines.
Another method, is by utilising the massive userbase that Trimcraft has aquired since it's launch of the new website. Offering free banner images, and RSS feeds for other websites to display on their sites to encourage inlinks.
